Web-Based Software for Greenhouse Gas Data
Management & Reporting

Hosting Sponsor:
Dickstein Shapiro LLP

The Center for Economic and Environmental Partnership, Inc., will sponsor its next New York Energy & Environmental Funders’ meeting on Friday May 8, 2009.

Enverity Corporation develops and markets robust and flexible web-based software applications that automate and facilitate environmental data management and reporting, including greenhouse gas emissions.

The rapid growth of the carbon market, combined with the increasing momentum towards regulation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the United States, presents US companies with a myriad of threats and opportunities.

All businesses, municipalities, airports, colleges and universities and hospitals, generate GHG emissions through the consumption of electricity, combustion of fuel, utilization of cooling, and many other activities. Many of these entities already are, or will become subject to regulation in the near future requiring them to track and report on these emissions (e.g., California AB32, US EPA's Mandatory GHG Reporting Rule, Regional GHG Initiative, etc.). Organizations may have to track their GHG emissions not only in the aggregate, but for each business unit, ranging from office buildings and retail stores to massive manufacturing facilities and countless vehicles. Most US companies will be subject to some type of federal regulatory requirement to track GHG emissions as early as 2010, with many states having legislation already on the books. In addition, many companies have already begun voluntarily tracking GHG emissions (via Climate Leaders, The Climate Registry, etc.). Tracking for certain corporations will be required under either a cap and trade policy or a carbon tax.

This represents a massive market opportunity. Some large corporations will need tracking software, but an even larger market will be the numerous small/mid-size organizations without the resources or expertise to address the issue internally. To address this market, Enverity recently completed development of ghgTrackTM, and is now offering it for sale. ghgTrackTM allows an institutuion to efficiently and effectively manage and perform mandated monitoring, record-keeping, forecasting, reporting and communication activities associated with green building, and environmental, health & safety compliance.

The ghgTrackTM application is designed with a powerful and rich feature set aimed at satisfying large corporate clients, but with an intuitive and easy to use interface to facilitate utilization by smaller organizations. Combined with a 'pay for what you use' pricing model, this creates a very scalable business model with a large target market.

Evnerity, which was named the Runner Up in the Green Building category of the California CleanTech Open competition in 2007, is seeking to raise $2mm to achieve a first-mover advantage and solidify a dominant position in the market, primarily through additional strategic advertising and the development of sales channels. The company receives some revenue from existing compliance tools, and plans to begin selling ghgTrackTM sometime in May.

Enverity enjoys a recurring annual revenue stream from over 50 facility clients. Johnson Controls, Headwaters and International Truck and Engine have all returned to Enverity for subsequent additional application module purchases and additional facility roll-outs, following deployment and use of their initial module purchase. In addition, Enverity has signed three formal distribution partnerships (co-marketing/sales) with Johnson Controls (GreenCompass - green building -- LEED certification tool), The Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. (ISO14000 Tool) and ENSR (Task Organizer tool). Johnson Controls and ENSR have indicated interest in becoming distribution channel partners for our new Greenhouse Gas application.

Michael Hermus, CTO, joined on the phone by Eric van Gestel, President & CEO, will present a demonstration of the software and discuss the company's market opportunities and roll-out strategy.
