Invitation to the National Teleconference/Brown Bag for Lawyers and Non Lawyers
Presented by THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION Renewable Energy Resource Committee
"Conversation with the Commissioner: FERC’s Perspectives on Distributed and Renewable Energy in the post-Energy Policy Act of 2005 Environment" on March 9, 2006 – NEW DATE
The massive Energy Policy Act of 2005 (“EPAct”), signed into law last summer, created major changes in the law relating to the national electricity grid and its regulation. The law also created significant challenges for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, which was assigned a Congressional “do-list” of at least twenty statutory tasks related to the electricity system several of which are of great importance to distributed and renewable energy resources. Among other things, EPAct revised the 1978 law governing federal policy about cogenerators and small power producers, and changed the federal role in siting new electric transmission lines. The committee is very pleased to announce that Commissioner Nora Mead Brownell will be our principal guest for a lunch-time seminar to discuss FERC policies and decisions, recent and potential, that may affect distributed and renewable energy sources as they become further integrated into electricity markets. Commissioner Brownell will be joined for questions and discussion by a panel of experts on these issues and will respond to questions sent to the panel to the extent time allows.
