Speaker Biography

Brad Will, R.A. is a principal member of Ashokan Architecture & Planning, PLLC, joining the AAP Team in January 2002. Mr. Will graduated from Cornell University with a professional degree in Architecture in 1984. His design experience ranges from custom homes to healthcare, public transit, schools, retail & office, senior living centers and multi-family units. While working in San Diego, CA in the early 1990’s, Mr. Will was directly involved in the design and construction administration of several award-winning residential projects.

While working in California, he earned a certificate in Practice Management from the Advanced Management Institute in San Francisco, eventually running his own practice there for over six years. His work in the Bay Area included consulting work on two major senior living centers, several public design competitions, a new office high- rise, and pro bono assistance for non-profit organizations.

Brad Will, R.A. of Ashokan Architecture & Planning, PLLC of Stone Ridge recently received recognition by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) for passing the LEED professional accreditation examination. The exam, administered at the Sylvan Learning Institute in Wappingers Falls, tests for comprehension of “green” building and site practices, in areas such as design and construction strategies, recycled materials, low-impact site development and renewable energy applications related to the building industry.

Recognized nationally as the benchmark for the establishment and promotion of environmentally sound design principles, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) has become a popular marketing tool for commercial developers, sustainable-minded corporations, municipalities and public and private institutions across the country. Currently, LEED applies only to these types of larger buildings and developments, but the USGBC has been in negotiations with the NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) for the release of a residential version of the LEED Green Building Rating System.

Mr. Will is licensed to practice architecture in New York and California. He lives in Bearsville with his wife Pin, also a practicing building designer, and their three cats.
